Hi. Yet Another Feature Upgrade Announcement On WebMail. We are pretty confident that there are no Virus Infected Mails which are being accepted On Our Server as we see 100's of refusal every day of virus infected messages being attempted to be delivered but refused. We Have Recently Added The Following Feature Which Ensures That None Of "Our Subscribers" Can Be The Initiators Of Virus Infected Messages. We have tried similar Tests With A Sample Test File (EICAR) on three other popular mail services and surprisingly all of them allowed the infected file to be attached and sent alongwith the email (though such emails cannot be delivered to our server as we reject connection to such mails). In our case, users cannot just attach any infected attachments after this feature upgrade wef today. Attachments are the biggest source of Virus Carriers in mail. From now on, any user while attaching attachments to mails, would get a warning message about virus infection in attachment and the "Attachment Would Be Refused To Be Attached To The Email". We are always striving towards making email communications a means for the "Busy Professionals" who would want email communications to be safe and secure means of communicating, and this feature upgradation of real-time scanning of attachments being attached by users to their email is one such step in that direction. Some users have been bringing to our notice that they often get Notifications From Other Servers that their mail (which they did not send) contained virus. We would like to make a note that this is the curse of so called "Comfortable" Desktop clients like Outlook Express Etc from where these worms spread automatically with forged "From Address" picked up from the Contact Book of the Desktop Client. There is nothing that we can do about it. In Fact We Do Not Use Any Desktop Client despite handling so many email communications as we are aware how Damaging these "Apparently Comfortable" Desktop Clients could get We shall keep announcing other feature additions to webmail as and when we release the same on the service. Meanwhile, you could try uploading a Virus infected attachment to your email and let us know if it fails to be detected (chances are very low as you are being protected against more than 22700 viruses and the signatures database is updated in Real-Time Online.).
