Relay Black Lists -- For Blocking SPAM Can't Post

Hi.

In order to ensure adherence to our Anti Spam Policy, we are having following third party RBL's integrated to our MTA. Any domain / IP blacklisted on the following would not be able to deliver mails to any accounts on our servers till they are delisted again:

dnsbl.njabl.org
bl.spamcop.net
blackholes.easynet.nl
dynablock.easynet.nl
proxies.blackholes.easynet.nl
sbl.spamhaus.org
list.dsbl.org
cbl.abuseat.org
relays.ordb.org

We are seriously considering integrating RFC complaince also which we have not done so far. The same would prevent mails from servers not complying to RFC standards.

It could be that your friend complains that he is unable to send you a mail to your account on our servers. Please let him help himself by contacting the System Administrators of their service providers to get their Mail Server delisted from the List. The list where their mail server has been blacklisted is displayed in the bounced message that they get. There is nothing that we can do. We are just following internationally accepted rules so as to ensure that your mailbox is not flooded with SPAM.

Cheers.

Re: [Admin] Relay Black Lists -- For Blocking SPAM [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi.

We have added the following RBL to the list above:

ipwhois.rfc-ignorant.org

This has resulted in further rejection of incoming SPAM mails. We follow ZERO Spam Policy and do not allow mails from any servers listed on any of the RBL's as indicated above including the recent addition. Accordingly if you get complains that you cannot be sent mails from 'x' domain, please do not think that there's any problem with our Mail Servers.

Blocking High Scoring Spam At Server Level [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi.

In line with our Zero Spam Policy in addition to using the Third Party RBL's, we have also started rejecting delivery of messages with High Spam Score Points (Undisclosed) so that even if the sender is not listed on any of the RBL's that we are using, the SPAM does not get delivered to our server and hence your account.

The High Spam Score Points has been set high enough as per trends on internet. Anything below this and not listed on RBL's would still get through. Please note that in case you temporarily cannot get messages from Yahoo, Hotmail, etc it's purely because they are listed on the RBL's and the sender gets a Delivery Failure Notification (if their MTA serves them .. we know hotmail doesn't as on date of writing this message) with a Link to the RBL where they are listed. Recently, there has been an increase in the frequencty of their listings on RBL's a fact which only highlights the fact that these so called Free Mail Services (with Now A Larger MailBoxes) are becoming synonymous with Spamming. We cannot do anything in case their MTA's are listed on RBL's...

Hi.

In order to further tighten the SPAM Vipul's Razor has been integrated to the Mail Server on 26th August 2004. As a step ahead we are also contemplating integrating DCC (Distributed Checksum Clearing) to the Mail Server in order to further control SPAM.

Please note that we are rejecting acceptance of Mails for delivery which go beyond a certain SPAM Score and this score has been set sufficiently high so as to ensure that legitimate mails are not lost. This is only for cases where the sender's host is not listed on any of the RBL's listed in this thread. As usual, any Host listed on RBL's are not allowed to deliver mails to our server. We cannot be held responsible for non delivery of mails from such hosts whose administrator's have to exercise tighter control on their Anti SPAM Policy.

Hi.

DCC has been integrated with MTA for further controlling SPAM.
These integrations of DCC and Vipul's RAZOR to work with SpamAssassin is to further filter SPAM at SMTP stage by bumping up the Spam Score of the Mails and we are rejecting delivery of any mail with a Spam Score Which Ensures That Legit Mails Are Not Denied Delivery. This Applies to Mails from IP's / Hosts which are not listed in the RBL's already mentioned above and such are denied mail delivery. DCC is a step ahead as it could be catching SPAM before the RBL's get them listed. For further details on DCC you could refer to the link above or take a look at Real Time Graphical Stats Of DCC :

Hi.

We have stopped using the Thrid Party RBL's for blocking SPAM.
Currently, only rfc-ignorant.org is being used for blocking. Rest are no more used by us for the purpose of Blocking a IP just on account of a host/ip being listed in any oif the RBL's

We have introduced a few custom changes at MTA level.
The Level Of SPAM however has remain unchanged. According to what we gathered from one of our US Resellers, on their previous server they used to get 100 spams a day, but eversince they shifted to us, they hardly get two or three SPAM mails per week.

ALL RBL's have been moved to SA by default so no more MTA checks are done except for pornographic related RBL's which are blocked definitely. SA RBL checks are for Bumping up score and weeding our spam at server wide level.
